“For the NDP to suggest, without any knowledge, that I would be golfing rather than meeting with any Saskatchewan residents is an outright lie and it’s dishonest,” Premier Moe told Saskatoon reporters hours before he was caught on the course.
Moe has faced fierce criticism from evacuees and the Official Opposition in recent days for refusing for months to meet with people who lost their homes and businesses in Denare Beach, a short drive from the luxury resort Elk Ridge where the Premier was pictured Tuesday.
“If you can make time for political donors you sure as heck should be able to make time for victims of this horrible wildfire,” said Deputy Leader Vicki Mowat. “Denare Beach is only a short drive away from the course. There’s zero excuse not to show up for these people who have lost so much.”
“After 18 years, the Sask. Party and their current leader are tired, out of touch, and just not interested in doing their day jobs,” said Brittney Senger, Shadow Minister for Ethics and Democracy. “Scott Moe owes the people of Saskatchewan and especially the people of Denare Beach an apology.”
Wildfire victim Dustin Trumbley called on Premier Moe to visit Denare Beach, and even offered to tour him around personally.
“Are we not as important to the Premier because our golf clubs burnt down in our homes and we don’t have any money to donate to his political party? Are we not humans too?
“How can our community have any future if our government turns their backs on us and lies to our face?”
